Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Mario's is always great! I love the beef carpaccio because it's perfectly balanced. It's a light dish yet, generous with the delicious Parmesan shavings. Debbie was our server and she was attentive and knowledgeable. Very nice too.

I have lunch here often and feel bad that I have not written any reviews. To start I am not a pasta fan so I cannot comment on the quality as I never order it. The service is usually good unless they are packed (which is understandable). The atmosphere is light, trendy and slightly upscale but can be loud when crowded. They have a great indoor and really nice outdoor bar area. They also have one of the best happy hour food specials in the bar areas during the day that includes half off appetizers. The happy hour food specials are great for the quality of food and selection - it is definitely worth a visit! I am not a vegetarian but love veggies and Mario's is a solid choice for those looking for some healthy veggie options. They have a wide array of appetizers and sides that are fantastic if you are a vegetarian. My favorites are the Portobello Mushroom Calabrese, Roman Style artichokes, Escarole and Beans and Broccoli Rabe. I am not a big fan of the Eggplant Pancakes on their menu because they have way too much breading and fried bits for my taste (but if you are looking for more fried, cheese and sauce rather than eggplant you may love it!). If you are not a vegetarian the Hot Italian Stuffed peppers, Shrimp Scampi Bruschetta, Mussels and Chicken Sausage and Rapini are fantastic. And yes, the garlic rolls are fantastic; I try to not touch them until I get my food in fear of eating all the rolls before my food arrives.....

Stopped by for late dinner and drinks. Nice atmosphere and very friendly staff. Friend had wedge salad which was very generous portion, fresh and tasty. I had veal parm hero and pasta Fagoil soup. Soup was luke warm and hardly any pasta. Veal parm was void of any taste what so ever. Paper thin slices of veal with too much breading. Sauce had no seasoning or flavor. Will give this place another try as the atmosphere, service and drinks were above average.

I'm a fan of this place. Beautiful restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating, delightful staff, and a huge menu. In fact, the menu might be too big...it took us forever to decide. We landed up sharing the tour of Italy or something, it was like $21, and seriously could feed at least 4 people. I wish their happy hour lasted till 7 pm vs 6 pm and I would love to see some cheap appie bites much like Brio does.

Another great restaurant in Boca Raton. The biggest problem is that they don't accept reservations for parties less than six people. Therefore, you are almost guaranteed a wait. On a Sunday night at 8:00 we were asked to wait 20-25 minutes, which ended up being 30 minutes. However, the food was amazing as usual. They start you off with a bread basket of warm breadsticks and the world's best garlic knots. For an appetizer we shared the eggplant pancakes and meatballs, both perfect. For my entree I ate the pasta and peas which came with pancetta - perfect. My dad had a bacon, egg, and cheese pizza, which was good, but came out 10 minutes after my meal. Overall, a great place.

***Disclaimer: First Visit ever so things may be different my second time around!!*** The atmosphere and interior/exterior is great! Love it! I had the Orecchiette and it was great, however my favorite place, Tanzy Boca Raton, uses larger pieces of sausage. Otherwise, the taste was still good! Got good service even though they forgot to bring our drinks even though we ordered them BEFORE dinner but dinner made it to the table before he drinks did! Regardless, still four stars. I'll have to visit again to give a more fair review of the place (just like any other place I go to)!

If you are bread lover you would like their garlic bread. Also the shrimp scampi was awesome, Only problem was the food takes too long, they have happy hour till 6 pm everyday, overall it was good Italian food,

Hadn't been to Mario's in a few years. Used to really like it. Now I don't - both for inconsistent food and inconsistent service. A couple of winners in the food category: * Calamari Fra Diavolo: Healthy portion of squid with a crisp fry. The spicy peppers and San Marzano sauce gave it just the right kick. * Pasta and Peas - got a big thumbs up for creamy sauce and good flavor balance And then things went downhill. * Both the chicken scaloppini marsala and the veal version suffered from terminal blandness. Served smothered in a gummy brown sauce with an barely detectable marsala flavor, a few limp mushrooms, no herbs, and needing salt. And serving this with spaghetti with a red sauce is really strange. The pasta with that sauce does nothing to complement the dish. When my wife asked to replace it with spaghetti with an oil/garlic sauce, she was told, rather coldly, "okay, but there's a surcharge." Took nearly 15 minutes to get it and it was over-saturated with garlic. Why not just offer the dish with a more appropriate pasta or at least make an accommodation without a surcharge after the fact? * And the worst dish of the night award goes to ......... Mario's (not so) Special Pizza This dish has onion, sweet peppers and mushrooms included in the topping. All of them throw off moisture when cooking, so they need to be cooked off separately and added to the pie in the last few minutes of the oven bake (after they've given off most of their moisture) or as the pie comes out of the oven. But Marios apparently piles them on when assembling the pie, and as a result, the middle of the pie is a soaking wet mess. The skimpy amount of sauce had no flavor and even the sausage was bland. (The pepperoni was good and crisp, though.) Now - about the service. Our waiter was a friendly and helpful guy. But Mario's uses runners to bring food out, and long periods went by with no contact with our waiter. So, when nearly 15 minutes went by after 3 of the 4 main plates came out, there was no one to ask when the pizza would arrive. When my wife wanted to replace her pasta, we dealt with a rather uninterested food runner, not our waiter. When the gorgonzola salad was served - it was totally without dressing. We asked a food runner .... His curt response: " there's olive oil on the table." All in all - not a place I'm likely to go back to.

Good lunch spot, but even better if you sit at the bar for half price appetizers. Came here for lunch with the W. Now living in Boca for a while, the old Mario's used to be my go to spot for a really good Italian buffet. It is nice to see that they have not lost their touch. Started off with large garlic rolls which will keep the vampires and everyone in your office away. However, they are so good that it is worth being the office pariah for the day. Ordered the toasted meatball parmigiana with a cup of pasta fagiol for $13. First the "cup" of soup is huge and is more akin to a bowl at most places. More importantly it was delicious. The meatball parm was so huge that I could only eat half of it. So although the meal maybe a bit more expensive than average, it is more than reasonable considering the volume of food you get. Now, if you want a real bargain, eat at the bar for half price apps, (11:30-6) including Roman style fried artichoke hearts. At half price, the apps are a deal. However, you can only get these deals if eating at the bar. Will definitely return!

I've found a new favorite! Happy hour from 11:30-6:00 EVERY day? Happy hour here means 1/2 price cocktails, beer and wine as well as half price appetizers. And their appetizers are the size of a meal. Atmosphere here is beautiful - very hip decor, casual elegance. GREAT outdoor bar and lounge area too. We stopped in on Saturday for a late lunch to be pleasantly surprised with this offer or happy hour. We sat at a high top at the bar and shared 2 appetizers - mussels, eggplant pancakes and ordered the breakfast pizza which had eggs, bacon and mozzarella cheese. All delicious - as was the $4 glass of Pinot Grigio I had 2 of! This will be a new weekly hang out for sure!

My wife and I were more than pleased with our first dining experience at Marios. The atmosphere was pleasant and great music was playing. Our server Raelene was welcoming and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed with a smile, followed with good conversation. She gave us recommendations on the chicken scarpiello and grilled salmon and both dishes were AMAZING! We will definitely be back to Marios again to try their apps half off on happy hour. 10/10
(5)Brooke H.
Went here after having a major disappointment in service at our originally planned dinner at another restaurant nearby. Service here was amazing and the food was delicious. If you're looking for amazing Italian food, you've found the right place.

So I came here with my boyfriend, we just recently moved to Boca from Queens.. Maybe I feel this way because we just moved here from the greatest city with some of the greatest food worldwide but..... Pros - chocolate cake was good, but when is chocolate anything ever bad? - staff was awesome Cons - the short ribs were astonishingly rubbery - the rigatoni tasted about as basic as pasta gets - the butternut squash ravioli was definitely frozen - this establishment is not authentic in any way Foot note: please don't be confused or misled by the Lamborghini parked outside. I truly wonder if the man or woman driving that vehicle was lost. Make the smart choice and choose PF Chang's, it's right next door. Heck, just go to Olive Garden.

I've been here several times and have never been disappointed. I hosted a 30 person work dinner here and service was top notch. The food, portions and quality were excellent. Since that dinner party I have been here 3-4 more times with work related dinners and personal dinners. I highly recommend their pasta dishes. The butternut squash ravioli with vanilla bean and butter sauce is out of this world. It comes served with cooked butternut squash in the dish. Great portion! The baked spaghetti is huge! Easily shared by 2-3 people. The Lemon chicken with potatoes and artichokes was simply amazing. I had it for dinner last night and could eat it again tonight. Even my husband commented on how flavorful the dish was... He doesn't typically have much to say about food. I'm the critic ;) The bread basket - get garlic rolls! Yummy! The beet salad with goat cheese is also a good choice. The peppery arugula and beets are a great combo. I highly recommend Mario's
(5)Brian H.
The food is ok, but their policies are ridiculous. We purposely made Mario's a destination before our movie. Their food took a while to be served. So, since we were about to be late to the movie, I asked for a to go box for the half of my food I didn't have time to eat. Apparently, since it was happy hour and the food was discounted, they said no and were real jerks about it. There are plenty of other restaurants nearby, goodbye Mario's!

This place is great. I have heard it's hit or miss, but we must have gone on a great night. We all loved our meals. It must be difficult to serve such a large restaurant, but the food really is great-- and it has a MASSIVE menu. They cater to the gluten free crowd which is amazing (pizza and pasta!) I loved everything I got-- sauteed calamari and then a seafood mix on top of broccoli. I was VERY full. My family loved the pizza they got and my brother loved his chicken dish. My mom said the lemon chicken was one of the best she had ever gotten. My grandfather was blown away by how many mussels he got with his entree. He couldn't even finish them (which is a rarity for him). The portions are huge and the food is great. I would go back again next time I am in Boca for sure!

I've said some nice things in the past about this casual Italian dining spot, but the best thing about Mario's could be its Happy Hour. Judging from the mostly full seats at the indoor and outdoor covered bar areas where you're seated, it seems the word is clearly out about this place. Lots of establishments get you in with half-priced drinks or food, but it's limited to domestic beers, well drinks and a handful of items off the appetizer menu. Mario's lets you pretty much order any drink or beer they have and also gives you a nice assortment of popular wines to choose from by the glass. Order a fancy cosmo...half price. The selection and quality of the appetizers is also a cut above most of the competition. At the top of the list is a generous plate of two meatballs with fried peppers. Runner-ups include their eggplant pancakes, Italian chicken wings, crispy fried or grilled calamari and the toasted cheese fondue ravioli. Best of all, Happy Hour runs seven days a week from 11;30 am until 6 pm. I would prefer 7 pm, but that would cut into their dinner crowd. It can sometimes be tough to find a couple of seats together in the bar area after work. I hope this doesn't make it even tougher.

This is by far the best Italian restaurant in the area. Having lived in Italy for more than 8 years i feel I am justified in stating I know good Italian food. The owners take pride in looking after their client and staff making the experience more pleasurable.

Two years ago I had an awful experience here where as I would go as far to say that a waiter spat in my food and so swore I'd never go back. Well I was convinced by friends this was a good after dinner desert and coffee spot; so I went along. I ordered the bread pudding since that is one of my all time favs and a friend said it was huge and impressive. We sat at the bar, bartender wasn't too impressed that we weren't there for drinks but warmed up after a while. I ordered a latte which was made in front of me - it was damn good. The bread pudding came a little later and it was a anticlimax. It looks good, little square pieces of bread, baked in a square dish, dusted with icing sugar - big problem being it was totally microwaved. It was freezing in spots and piping hot in others, also adding the lack of moisture. It was 75% dry and could have done with a sauce or custard to liven it up. So overall I was underwhelmed and opinion remains unchanged.

Holy happy hour lunch, batman! I stopped in here after class on a Tuesday with a friend of mine. To my delight I was told that happy hour runs from 11:30am - 6pm every day at the bar! AND it includes half off appetizers! ANNNND there is not only an indoor bar, but an outdoor one too! Lucky for us this restaurant is really beautiful, so either seating choice would be a win. We promptly sat our happy butts down at the inside bar. We were greeted by the bartender, Aaron, and started looking over our menus. So many delicious sounding items, but we settled on the beef carpaccio and the eggplant pancakes. Heaven. Both of them. The beef carpaccio was so absurdly tender with a really yummy truffle cream sauce on top. Plated with an arugula salad in the center, it was both light and delicious. The eggplant pancakes were also delicious. Rounds of fried eggplant with four different types of cheeses and placed in a san marzano tomato sauce - so yum! We were planning on just starting with these two apps and then getting more, but the plates were huge! So tasty, such great quality, and large portions. I had a mimosa while my friend had a screwdriver made with Tito's. Both half off ($5!). This lunch was both amazing and a steal. Aaron kept us full, hydrated, and entertained. My girlfriend and I have designated Mario's Osteria as our after class spot for lunch now. Can't wait to try the other menu items!

Warning... Been going to the many locations of Marios in Boca for over 20 years. This location has the nicest atmosphere and decor but the worst food and overpriced. Will only return to take out the House salad, which is the best thing on the menu. If you dare must go, definitely skip the Happy Hour, there are too many others in town worthwhile.
(2)Anna S.
Great atmosphere, food and drinks! Wonderful happy hour as well. The place is very nice and has a wonderful outdoor bar. If you go there hopefully you're lucky enough to get Robbie! Best bartender in Boca! Very attentive, nice (good looking too) and makes awesome drinks. He knows his stuff! Especially If you appreciate great craft cocktails and someone knowledgable.
(5)Stephanie M.
This is my favorite Italian restaurant. I specifically love the stacked eggplant, grilled calamari and the garlic rolls. Ricardo is a great waiter / bartender. I like eating at the outdoor bar area and couches. I don't have an oven in my apartment so coming to eat at Mario's is the closest to me as a home cooked meal. Thank You
(5)Larry P.
This is a great option - lots of different stuff on the menu for everyone. Good for business or families. I personally really love their escarole and bean penne. It so deliciously garlicky and good. Nice vibe in the restaurant. I love the enormous lampshades.

Brought a group of 10 here for a family dinner - was dismayed to find that their policy for reservations (to be made online only via Open Table) did not extend past 6:15. They prefer to take walk-ins only after that, so a group our size might wait awhile! Their largest table only seats 8 comfortably, but we had two kids & made it work. The wait staff was friendly but quick to point out the rudeness from local patrons at their other tables. Our waiter wandered off in the middle of taking our order and needed to be reminded of items supposed to be included with our meal (e.g, mashed potatoes w/ the chicken florentine). The food was very good, but it all required additional seasoning, which is fine; better to be able to add than being too strong. EXCELLENT zucchini frittes. Desserts were enormous and espressos were expertly crafted.
(4)Frank A.
I love this place. The best time to go is happy hour. Almost all the appetizers are half price. The meatballs are amazing. They melt in your mouth. Outrageously good. The clams oregenato are amazing. They may be the best I ever had. I can only say, I have never had a bad meal here. Enjoy my friends this is one of the best Italian restaurants in Boca. For clarification purposes, this is the same Mario's that has been in at least two different places over the last twenty years. Try not to miss it. You will not be disappointed.
(5)Alex E.
Don't dare sit in a Cabana outside during happy hour. The owner/manager nazi women will tell you the rules after you've sat down and ordered and tell you that you need to pay full price (not the happy hour rates available at the bar or couches a few feet away)!!!
(1)Senovia F.
Stopped in and they were almost closed. They took my order and sent it back to the kitchen. I ordered the grilled salmon with lentils and the calamari. The food was delicious. The salmon was tender and the lentils were well seasoned and full of flavor.
(4)Zak S.
Love it here !the bread rolls are amazing. This reasturant has great appeal and the food is very appetizing . The food is better than the service here and also the menu you is very big and there is many options. Get the California chicken burger its amazing .!!!
(4)Bill S.
Outstanding Italian restaurant in Boca Raton This is the newer location of Mario's that have been in at lease 4 different locations over the past 15 years. The garlic rolls and bread sticks are awesome and a welcome treat. For diner, I had the snapper francese with a side of pasta and bolanses ($31) that was incredible. this was one of the best I have ever had and I highly recommend this dish. For desert I tried the gluten free chocolate fudge cake ($9) and it was out of this world and I had no idea it was gluten free.
(5)Ted S.
The veal park was downright BAD ! very dry and the pasta that came with it was dry also. on the other hand the scallop and shrimp combo was excellent. how do u rate a restaurant that serves two people a really bad meal and one that is excellent. we told the waiter but don,t think Nico was that interested even tho he could SEE how dry it looked!
(2)Jeff P.
Eggplant Pancakes! Need I say more??? Check out happy hour, it's 6 hours long!!! Half price apps and drinks - service is great, atmosphere is fun and the food is delicious.
(5)Julia S.
We've been to Marios on a few date nights and plan to come back on many more. The decor of the place is great as well as the food. Our favorite is the eggplant pancake, it's so delicious and even though is listed as an appetizer is big enough to me a main dish. Pizza here is also pretty good !
(4)Michelle B.
Incredibly rude waiter last night. The manager got us a new waiter..but didn't apologize or care about what happened. Their new policy of not allowing you to take home happy hour leftovers is ridiculous too. They warn you to not order what you can't finish, because they don't let you take it home! Seriously? If I pay for something, you can be sure I'm taking it home if I can't finish..or I'll just pay for what I ate then!! Sets a bad tone to tell you this when ordering. Don't think I'll be going back there..too many other choices..but the eggplant stack is very good. Also - ridiculous to end happy hour at 6!!
(1)Stefany L.
Mario's has a really good happy hour with half off appetizers and drinks. The food is very tasty. You can't really go wrong with the beef carpaccio, which is generous with fresh arugula or their juicy meatballs. It does get super packed at their bar and community tables, so it's best to get here a little early. There were a couple of times that we left because there were no seats. With that being said, be careful about ordering too much because they do not let you take leftovers back from the happy hour menu. Wish we had known that beforehand.
(4)Jay D.
Was pleasantly surprised when dining here. Nice bar tender, very attentive, made good suggestions. The salad we had (Gorgonzola Italian Salad) was great. The prices are also very fair.
(4)Robert H.
Every thing was terrific!

We have been to Marios a dozen times at least. Last night we went for dinner with clients. I'm unsure of why some reviews say it's over the top expensive , I find their prices are on point for a restaurant in the area. The food is good not great but good! I have a love for Escarole and beans and they make a very good dish of it, with just the right amount of juice from the greens ( some times others make this dish too watery .... Yukkk) and fresh roasted garlic . The "clan " is all Italian so of course The rest of the group ordered Sunday gravy , which is always good. Coming from three Italians who all make a pretty good gravy themselves "this is gooodddaaa" I trust it's probably the best Sunday gravy you can get in South florida unless of course you're at my house for dinner on a Sunday when my fiancé spends half the day to make the sauce accompanied by homemade pasta . We had a bottle of wine plus two additional glasses of wine, 4 entrees and two apps it was $179. , in my opinion this is a very economical meal for the food you are served here, it's not all high quality but most of the dishes I've had here are good, let me rephrase and say I've never had a bad meal just not a award winning meal , but then again I'm a tuff food critic. I wouldn't classify this restaurant as overall authentic Italian but it is better then the average in Boca Raton. Service varies as its a large restaurant and they seem to go thru staff changes a lot which also is not uncommon as most of the staff are likely college students, being the university is across the street.
(4)Tara J.
This is really more like a 4.5 review from me. Dined here for lunch with my husband and really enjoyed the ambiance, both inside and out, the food, and the service. The interior is bright and airy, with some cool fixtures and neat patterns on the booths. There really isn't anything not to like about the neat decor here. We ate inside as it was an UBER windy day today, but there is a LOT of outdoor seating around the restaurant both in front and on the side. Service was good as was the food. My husband enjoyed the Lunch Special -- pizza and salad for $10. The pizza was actually a full small pizza, which is probably the equivalent of two slices at other places. I ate the Luigi Salad, but substituted the arugula for romaine. It was tasty! However, this salad had breaded eggplant in it and I was a bit disappointed that the eggplant was cold. I can see if it was just eggplant that wasn't breaded, but it just seemed like it should have been hot, not cold. Anyway... Garlic rolls came with our lunch. What can I say about garlic rolls? I LOVE them, and these were right in line with what I love about them -- lots of garlic and lots of butter. Um, yeah. Doesn't get much better than that. While this place is a bit on the upscale side, it certainly wasn't stuffy. The clientele included a mix of business professionals on their lunch hour as well as friends in jeans just meeting for lunch. It was quite a mish mash of people here. I imagine dinner is a completely different scene. Parking -- there is valet parking out front, however, there is a HUGE parking lot next to PF Changs, so ample free parking.
(4)Justin K.
"Sold my soul for a garlic roll." The food here is so indulgent, my (usually stoic) self control completely crumbles. Prices are reasonable for a swanky Boca eatery, even more so at happy hour. The shrimp scampi bruschetta appetizer had two enormous shrimp - they looked like lobster tails. And my favorite, the eggplant pancakes, we're crispy and the perfect blend of sauce and cheeses. The garlic rolls are my kryptonite - obscenely soft, crispy, juicy - I dare you to stop after one. Our server Frank P was so friendly and accommodating. We had just worked out and were completely under-dressed, but this guy pulled out all the stops. He was so nice - my wife made a comment that he's giving me a run for my money. Guess I gotta step up my game!
(5)Alice M.
Amazing service food atmosphere drinks everything. Came here with a friend and the happy hour is wonderful. Had ravioli bites and eggplant pancakes first then pasta and peas. Thank you for a wonderful night and food!
(5)Gary M.
Atmosphere--well done contemporary-mostly white--- large and perfect lighting over tables to see what u are eating--! Chopped Italian salad-- great-- ! Eggplant parm- the best in the area!- not mushy or over sauced- nice big square of many layered eggplant that was not turned to breaded mush like almost all the restaurants in the area Tomato sauce is great-- does not have the chopped horrible garlic in it like most in the area Chicken Marsala very good- flavorful with that nice hint of sweetness Chocolate cake - over the top flavor and size and super moist! Service- wonderful
(5)Arianna N Shaffer S.
This place is sooooo good I absolutely love it! There grilled calamari or grilled shrimp for an appetizer is to die for! I love eating those appetizers with cocktail sauce.... They never have cocktail sauce so they always end up asking the chef to make it for me and he does and I really appreciate that he can accommodate that!!! This is a great place to share food as well because the portion sizes are really big! I love the ambiance and the servers are really great!!! My only complaint would be that some servers come over to your table to check on you every 5 minutes and it gets kinda obnoxious, especially when they keep interrupting your conversations!!!
(4)Ladyblue B.
Very much liked this busy, busy restaurant. Good food at reasonable prices. I had the Eggplant Parmesan, it was delicious. Everyone in our group had something different..and each of us enjoyed our dinner. The snapper looked especially delicious. Abit surprised that freshly grated cheese isnt offered, but they did have cheese available on the table. The warm, crispy breadsticks were a treat. Service was attentive and friendly. .
(4)Edith M.
For an Osteria it did not hit the mark! No freshly grounded Parmesan cheese is a bad sign!! Risotto with shrimp tasteless... Although fried zucchini and lobster ravioli was delicious. Server not very enthusiastic and would not come over to make sure we were doing fine!
(3)Laura L.
So we voted to have our Christmas Company dinner here and lets just say it was the best decision everrrrrrr!!!! Happy hour was so alive for a Thursday. We decided to get some drinks before the whole group arrive. I ordered the Tropical Rita and it was gross. It was so strong and bitter it was lacking some sort of sweetness. The drink prices for "Specialty Cocktails" were $12.00 each. I though it was pretty pricey to not like it. I'm not usually the type to complain about it so I did attempt to drink it but that was a failed. My other coworkers ordered a Pear Martini- DELICIOUS!! and Cheery Cosmo also pretty good. Once the group arrived we were seated promptly. They require reservations for bigger groups. I would recommend it as this place seems to be very busy at all times. Our waitress was awesome!! She was so attentive and made us feel very comfortable, even took plenty of pictures for us!!! Ok are you ready for our order!!?? Mine you did got it all correct so that was a score!! Appetizers: - Eggplant Pancakes $13- amazing burst of taste. It was breaded to perfection. Feta/Asiago/ Parmesan/ Fresh Mozzarella served with San Marzano Asiago Tomato Syrup - Crispy Fried Calamari $12- you can never go wrong with calamari. Fresh Lemons/ Marinara Sauce -Bruschetta Pizza $10- fresh, full of tomatoes, lightly cheese and crispy, I could eat some right now. Fresh Chopped Tomatoes/ Basil/ Garlic and Gorganzola Cheese - Toasted Cheese Fondue Ravioli $12- these were ok, not my favorite, they were missing more flavor. They seem so plain to me. OH! let me now forget to mention their breads, they brought out this pretzel like bread- yummy, plain rolls- yummy, BUT THE GARLIC/ PESTO bread was do delicious if I could only have that I would not be disappointed. I think I ate like 4 rolls by myself, that's how amazing they were. Now DINNER!! We each ordered the Italian Feast Dish $22-23.00. This meal is to serve for days. It's a deep dish bowl served with lasagna, bake ziti, egg plant, sausage, 1 huge meatball, ravioli and LOADED on cheese. I was so much food I'm still eating it! (of course I froze it lol). This plate is so big I would say 2-3 people could easily share it. With dinner we decided to try some more drinks, we ordered the Espresso Me and it was heaven in our mouth. This was by far my favorite drink of the night. The waitress was so kind that she realized I didn't like my first drink and gave me the second drink for free!!! She said they prefer to make the customer's happy than to be unsatisfied. I thought that was awesome! Finally! I'm full just typing this review up..we ordered dessert. We ordered 2 of the berries. It was perfect as we were so full we couldn't have had some monstrous dessert. they were strawberries, blue berries and raspberries served in a sweet yogurt. PERFECT!!! Everyone must try this place out! They prices are great and the quantities are ridiculous!

We found our three entrees (Rigatoni & Short Ribs, Veal Scaloppini, Roasted Lemon Chicken) to be competently prepared and generously portioned. The waiters were great. The garlic rolls and breadsticks were out of this world! Nice decor and lots of outdoor seating.

Great Happy Hour although it ends pretty early, but it's 1/2 off everything! I probably wouldn't come to dinner here when it's not happy hour because the food is super over priced. I get it, we're in Boca, but c'mon!

First time at this new location. Went for lunch with a friend. Really nice inside and option to eat outside. Chose inside because outside patio has view of parking lot and Glades Road. Waiter quick to take our orders but took a while for food to arrive.Onlyother complaint was my friend had a difficult time getting a water refill. I had the grilled egplant with fresh mozzarella and roasted peppers on multi grain ciabatta bread. Came with soup or salad. I chose the chicken vegetable. Both were really delicious. Friend had the filet mignon sliders which looked fabulous. Cooked perfectly and topped with cheese, onion ring and pickle. He could only eat 1/ 1/2 out of 3 sliders. Came with fries. Forgot to mention also came with a basket of garlic rolls.

The food was amazing!!!! We got the eggplant pancakes which were phenomenal!!!! I also got the fried zucchini fritte which was super good!!! Portions were huge although a little pricey. The lighting was very low and hard to see, I think they should make the lights brighter... I looked over at a table and everybody was using their phone as a flashlight to read the menus! The service was good as well as the food. Come here for some good Italian food, I will def be back to try more!

Being it's been awhile since my first review and I've literally come here on a weekly basis since, it's only fair I revise my previous review. They got their act together, that's for sure. The service now vs. what it was during their first few months is significantly different. The staff is way more attentive, friendlier and not so intrusive. Their fra diablo calamari is a must. The meatballs with peppers and polly-o ricotta is great too. But the real reasons I keep coming back here is because they make some amazing potato gnocchi alla vodka here. If you're not a huge gnocchi fan than try the traditional rigatoni vodka. As I mentioned in my previous review, their butternut squash ravioli is equally amazing, it's just a smaller dish and should be shared.

Good food, friendly service. Made a mistake on our order. Ordered large pizza, brought us a medium. They asked if we still wanted large. We said no. Manager insisted we took large so they could still charge us for a large.

Ok. Tonight was a four star drop. How? I order arancini. Something sharp sticks in my tongue that feels like a fish bone. I pull it out. It was a STAPLE!! Little rice balls stuffed with peas and fontina cheese. STAPLE. The owner came over and took it, said he'd look into it, and to his credit, bought our dinner, but I heard nothing in the way of an apology from the kitchen for such a colossal f**k up. The food has been good there, but I don't trust the kitchen now. Someone should have apologized for that. I nearly swallowed that stupid piece of wire. Then my dinner companion got sick after eating the carpaccio and threw up all night. This place used to get fundamentals dead-on. Ack! NEVER NEVER again.

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND AVOID AVOID AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!! This place has gone down hill, not to mention that they hide all the negative reviews but there are plenty! Let me describe my last experience at Marios, not only was it a nightmare but a perfectly nice late lunch with my husband was completely ruined. I basically left this place with an upset stomach and a headache due from the stress which I had to endure by this poorly run atrocious place. Let me also say that we had been coming here at least once a month or so for their half price happy hour, I had dined here with friends and even referred people to this place. What a mistake! NEVER AGAIN. I will go on to describe my last encounter at this restaurant, last Saturday. The afternoon started off fine, the bartender was nice enough as we sat at the bar and my husband ordered some wine for himself, we shared the happy hour Calamari dish, a cheese/olive plate and the husband ordered a regularly priced pasta. We also had two espresso coffees. Everything was ok, food wise (I would not say it was great but it was adequate)...THEN, the trouble started. I heard another couple seated at the bar complaining about some new rule which was implemented by the restaurant. Marios decided that leftover happy hour priced food CANNOT be boxed to take home. That's right folks, food that YOU paid for will get thrown in the trash if you do not EAT it at the bar, you can't leave with it, and that's their rule. I thought this rule only applied at cheap buffet restaurants but I guess that's what Mario's is now going for.... An argument ensured between several couples at the bar towards the manager. He adamantly reminded everyone of this rule. This so called "RULE" was NOT written on their menu or in print ANYWHERE. When confronted with this fact, the manager meekly replied, "We have new menus coming out which will have this rule displayed, the bartender should have informed you of this). Well, the bartender did not inform us of this, hence...my husband and I could not take our leftovers home with us. I felt that this entire episode was demeaning towards the customers, including us....WE were not the only ones who loudly complained to the manager, he was basically mobbed by angry customers. The entire management of this restaurant seemed unprofessional and willing to lose several regular customers due to their new "rule", which THEY didnt even have the CLASS to state beforehand. I guess they enjoy treating people like trash, just as they enjoy throwing food that WE paid for, in the trash rather than allowing us to take it home. Really, it's no biggie, but cheesy rules like this should be clearly stated so we at least would have been given the heads up rather than bombarded with an offensive rule when the time for the check came. These are the same owners as Bova and the old Marios which was located on Military trail years ago. Both of these establishments went out of business, I can now see why Plus, looking at their bar area, it was EMPTY....a far cry from what it used to be. Honestly, something about this place changed and has gone downhill. These are the rudest managers/restaurant owners in Boca. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere that has positive vibes and customer appreciation. This is NOT it. NEGATIVE 0 STARS!!

Great food. Sometime bad service, but overall good. They have a nice outside seating area. Good happy hour when you catch it. Good lunch menu too. Excellent takeout. They're very accommodating, if you call them late. They might let you pick up inside by the kitchen instead of by the takeout entrance. It's a nice place for takeout, but the management isn't great and their dine-in customer service is questionable. Go for take out only. The food is tasty & quality.

I loved it! Stopped in for lunch with a colleague and we decided to dine outside and enjoy the beautiful day! There is quite a lengthty, appealing lunch menu and after much deliberation I chose the Beef Short Rib Sliders. I knew it would be good but it was actually better than good, it was great! The flavors, the tenderness of the beef, the freshness of the ciabatta roll was really great! I'm already planning my next visit!
(5)Sandra B.
Food is just okay, high priced but you expect that in this area. The most dissapointing thing was to buy an expensive $22 pasta dish and then get handed a shaker jar of dried up parmesan? Like some tacky pizza parlor. A place this expensive you would expect a waiter to arrive with freshly grated. Won't go back.
(2)Ellee M.
My boyfriend and I go here all the time. Awesome alfredo with asparagus! Always enjoy myself.
(4)Kerri G.
I've been to the restaurant many times in the past and absolutely loved it I have sat at the outside bar the inside bar the common table and in the dining room and now my last experience for a 75th birthday was just terrible. it started with the hostess that didn't know how to properly seat us left left us guessing for a table and then we have to go back up and get her to be seated and they were not very polite with it all. the server looked like she was a walking talking jewelry store and was grabbing our water glasses from the rims. the entree did not come out prepared correctly with the sides.no manager ever came around or hostess to check and see if everything was good.

YAY!!!!! HAPPY HOUR half price, YAY!!!!! APPETIZERS, half price, BUT, yes BIG BUT...........while everyone seems to be enjoying this, MUST have been the alcohol, someone should have given the blond and brunette female bartenders last night (about 4:30pm) a shot or better yet shots of happiness because long faces and attitude don't belong at happy hour. When you pour wine and it splashes on your counter as if you'd rather be elsewhere, you give attitude when asked for water or when asked for anything else for that matter...........if you don't like your job, then change it and don't act like you're doing us a favor......you're here because we spend $$$$ here which in turns gives you your job!!!!!! And yes, that was the attitude from both of them......and the food? Eh......would rather go somewhere with good food, full price and happy bartenders then come back here......need to rename your happy hour, the "Sour Hour" until you change the staff. Best thing about this restaurant?, the friendly valet........yes, friendliness stops at the door or sorry, just past the hostess, she was very pleasant too, she DEFINITELY needs a promotion if management thinks the bartenders do a good job. Suggestion to management......move the valet guys inside and with the hostess, have them serve the bar area during a REAL happy hour, also step up, way up, the food, it's been better before!!!!!

I had dinner here with my family as it is a good meeting place equidistant from Fort Lauderdale and West Palm beach. My brother and father had been here before and my father said it is basically the Rocco's Taco's of Italian food, and I would have to agree. Comfortable, modern, clean, trendy yet causal and fun action like ambiance. Plenty of seating for large crowds. Extensive menu that will please everyone. Good food, but not necessarily the most authentic or outstanding. All in all though a pleasant dining experience. Food included the calamari fra diavolo which was nicely fried but was in dire need of additional sauce, peppers and spice. Lasagna was enjoyed. Pizza was a bit too doughy. Chicken parm was good but needed more sauce and the chicken should be pounded a little thinner or a sharper knife should be given. Breakfast pizza was odd, better than expected but very heavy. Snapper francese was good. Mussels were fresh but no stand out. Service was friendly, and a good, but as pizzas are cooked in another kitchen it can be a bit disjointed with entrees arriving prior to pizza and the pizzas not arriving together--they do warn you about this though. Portions are large. Pretty good value. They confirmed my reservation and texted me to thank me for my visit-nice touch. Not great, but good. I would return.

Back again for the 4th date night in a row!!!!! Mary, Dale, Stephen and Sandy are the best. Thanks for a truly GREAT dining experience (as usual). Gastronomically awesome Relaxing atmosphere Excellent menu options Attentive staff Terrific all-around evening. Put them all together and they are GREAT!!! You KNOW we will be back next week for another wonderful meal with wonderful owners and managers. We can't forget to mention Debbie; the worlds best server.

This place used to be so good but has gone so far downhill I will never go there again. The last time I went they had closed early for "kitchen maintenance". The time before I sat for over a half hour before someone took my order. The food was just ok and the bill was over $60. There are a lot better Italian restaurants in this area.
(1)Rafael D.
Awesome Chicken Parm. Great service. Amazing attention to detail. Love the way the management makes sure every dish comes out perfect. Try the happy hour. Great Food for great prices. My favorites are the Meatballs and the Chicken Wings. Desserts are amazing.
(5)Anthony G.
Not a type of a restaurant I normally would go to, but I enjoyed a visit here. Octopus was very good actually. I ordered short ribs with mashed potatoes. Not sure how authentically Italian that was, but I am not a pasta person. It was tasty and a good-sized portion. And service from the waitress was very good as well.
(4)D B.
Happy Hour is a nice option but beware. ... The bartender is rude (she was not pleasant even upon our arrival) and no taking appetizers home. Would rather throw it awsy????
(1)Elaine C.
For a neighborhood restaurant in a busy shopping center its fine. I haven't had pizza in a long while and craved it so I came in for lunch. Personally, the dough is heavy....I prefer a thinner crust. They had a special 6"pie with choice of side salad. It was a very good buy for $10. You even get a choice of one free topping. My companion had the same but didn't want the free topping so I asked if I could have hers. They weren't too happy, but they honored it this time. Like they were doing me a great favor. The waiter was just ok...he disappeared for awhile, that I was wondering if he'd ever return. However, when he was attentive, he was good. I've eaten here before....I wouldn't say its my favorite place to dine but is just ok.

Mario's is a really good Italian restaurant with fair prices and an awesome contemporary dining room. Most dishes taste exactly as they should. Nothing on their menu is bad, but nothing is unbelievably amazing. The servers are good as well, and you usually don't have to wait long for a table, if at all. When I'm in the mood for Italian, this is one of my favorite go-to eateries. Bottom line: eat here, you won't be disappointed.
(5)Fred Z.
Always great dining at Mario's. Super accommodating management. Great service with Jeremy, and the kitchen did very well. From a loyal local, enjoy Mario's,
(5)Shannon R.
Shady business practices are an understatement... You want to change the pasta? Sure $3 UP charge. You want to change the sauce from marinara to alfredo? Sure $3 UP charge. You want to know if the original Mario's owner still owns it? They say yes, even though he sold his portion 3 years ago (bold face lie). You want to celebrate a birthday for 15 people, sure bring a cake, they'll charge you $25 to serve it. They regularly mock customer's behavior even with customers in the restaurant. You want to know how the manager speaks to employees, "I'll rip your head off and shit down your throat." Couldn't be a more disturbing establishment if they tried. It's unfortunate the food tastes good or their shady practices would have been noticed long ago.

Good service. Good bread. Fine dinner. Didn't like measured wine and wine prices.
(3)Lori t.
Very very good. I loved the decor as much as my dinner. There were many items on the menu that sounded fabulous. I chose a Caesar salad and veal Parmesan. My husband had veal piccata which he enjoyed. My son had the seasoned grilled chicken. The portions were generous except for the piccata so I shared some of mine with my husband. Our waiter Daniel was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Highly recommend Mario's Osteria.
(4)Bianca T.
All I can say is octopus appetizer and pork chop!! Amazing I love the environment and the owner as well!!
(5)Tobi G.
We use to go to the old location and when they closed I did not know that they opened at a new location because I live in Aventura. We were meeting friends from Palm Beach and heard about Mario's and was happy to make a reservation and go back to the wonderful memories and was thrilled with everything we had. Our server was Tara and she was the terrific. Needless to say the garlic rolls are still the best ever. The food is delicious and very generous plate wise. I am very happy to have found you again Mario's and can't wait to visit you again in the future. You are as good as you always were.
(4)Cindy R.
Had been there once before and decided to give a return visit. Original reservations were for 7:00 and someone in our party called to change to 8:00. We were told they couldn't guarantee us seating. It's September in Florida, hardly prime season. The dining room was not even half filled. One person in our party hardly touched their plate and declined to take it home. No one asked why. Service is mediocre at best and food is fair.

Great Italian Eatery! Its trendy but priced right and the food is top notch. The Artichoke appetizer pan roasted with garlic lemon and rosemary was divine. Zuppa-de-clams and Chicken Meat balls were top notch. The pizza is wonderful. Solid service and great service. Been going for year and its never diappointed.

Had dinner here on a Tuesday night. I'll give the service 4.5 stars. He did a good job and was attentive, perhaps a bit overly attentive at times. The bread they bring out is a good combination of chewy and soft. We had the Olives & Parmesan app which was disappointing. The olives were not the tasty or distinct (there were three types and the black and green ones taste the same). Hard to mess up Parmesan (Reggiano). For mains, I had the chicken piccata & artichokes. I'm not sure one artichoke cut in two pieces actually counts as plural. The chicken was nicely cooked but a bit bland (and not enough artichokes!). My side of spaghetti was nicely al dente but the sauce tasted too much like jar sauce. My friend had chicken, broccoli and penne which she liked. Portion size on both dishes was large. Next time I might try one of the pizzas which dominate the menu.
(3)Sherly V.
I went to Mario's last night. It was an amazing experience I would recommend. The drinks and happy hour are really fun. For Appetizers I tried the Eggplant Pancakes, calamari, and bruchetta Pizza...alll yum! They have an Italian Feast if ginormous size. All their pasta is wonderful....The ambiance is modern and beautiful...Try it.

According to Wikipedia, an Osteria is a humble, inexpensive restaurant/wine bar where you can eat affordable food in humble surroundings, possibly sharing tables with other, like-minded diners. Come on, guys, this is Boca Raton! There is precisely zero demand here for a restaurant even slightly like that. Fortunately, the restaurant looks exactly like you would want an Italian place in Boca to look, all glossy white with lovely stainless steel heaters outside. My large three-topping pizza and Diet Coke were $26, which is a bit spendy, but in line with what I would expect for the area. A warning to the single diner: It is too dark to read paper books, and there appears to be no WiFi. I turned on my Verizon tethering on my iPhone 5 to use my iPad 3, but if you have no such option you may be a bit lost. It was so dark that even reading the menu was a bit of a strain; my waitress handed me a small, chic, stainless steel flashlight I could use to read it. I think the atmosphere would have been really nice if I'd had a date with me. Because this is Boca, they had a wonderfully modern system for handling the wait. They take your cellphone number and text you when your table was ready. Since they told me the wait was about half an hour, I went over to the nearby Barnes & Noble to check out some books. I was about to get comfy with a load of books to read when my table was called. Full marks for a very ingenious system that doesn't require me to stay nervously by the restaurant, not knowing if I was in range of the beeper. My waitress was very nice and eager to please. (She was a very pretty waifisth brunette with a name beginning with "A"). Service was fast and efficient, and I was there on a very busy Saturday, with the place packed with people. They really have managed the waits well here - while I was waiting for my pizza, I was plied with delicious rolls. The pizza was superb, probably the best I've had since I moved down here. The crust was baked to perfection. The toppings were generously provided and of excellent quality. For food quality this place looks very hard to beat, and the food pricing was a bit high but provided good value for the money. The large quantity of the rolls and the generously sized large pizza made the pizza an honest two meals. A couple could share it and be well fed indeed; for me as a single, I wound up being completely stuffed with the pizza half eaten. So I took it home and will have it this morning. Note that this is a large, not a regular pizza, but it was only $3 or so more than the regular. That's not a bad deal at all. But alas, I have a big, big complaint about this place. It's probably not an issue for a lot of people, but it is for me. They serve soda in bottles instead of fountain drinks. For $3 per 10 oz. For a thirsty person like me, this makes drinking anything other than water at the table prohibitively expensive. If I had enjoyed the typical number of refills I would have gotten at, say, California Pizza Kitchen, it would have cost me about $12 for drinks. This kind of pricing seems severely out of line to me. I commented about this and was told they didn't think fountain drinks were up to the standard of quality acceptable to them. I pointed out that this made the drinks very expensive, and they said I should drink less soda. Of course they are right, but this is no help to the caffeine addicted masses such as myself! Unfortunately, when I go to a restaurant on my way from Miami to my home in West Palm, I am normally tired and want to pump myself up with caffeine for the long drive. Usually I exit because I need this, and so the restaurant served my actual need - for both a food break and a caffeine recharge - poorly. So the paradox: A restaurant I really want to give five stars to for the high-quality food and service, but that I'm not sure if I'll return to or not. This would easily be one of my favorite restaurants here if they provided the option of affordable fountain drinks. Maybe they should consider giving diners a choice?

I love the patio seating since the weather is great! The food was pretty good . The service is excellent . Good spot to eat italian in Boca.

Genre for rating: Italian, casual upscale Mario's was a surprising combination of coziness and liveliness, wrapped into one. The dishes were above average, and the prices were reasonable. The garlic knots were as good as any I remember in this class of table fare, and the menu was impressively vast. Seems like a go to for classed up Italian fare. Food: *** Service: *** Atmosphere: *** What I got: house salad, garlic knots, pasta and chicken, vino

I stuffed myself until I felt sick and then I gorged myself on chocolate cake. It was worth it. Nearly every part of the meal was fantastic. I was happy after the hot bread alone. The chicken parm was juicy and great. The pizza tasted delicious and the crust was just the right firmness. I should have left more room for dessert since the chocolate cake was out of this world. I haven't eaten that much in a very long time.
(5)Joe F.
Beautiful setting. Very good food. Eggplant in marinara and artichokes appetizers awesome. Garlic buttered rolls are yummy. Chicken scarpiello with sausage was nicely done. Only thing I didnt like was not being told of 20% for large groups.

I was extremely disappointed. When I checked in on Foursquare I unlocked the 2 for 1 drink special & the bartender told me they were no longer running the promotion & made no effort to honor it even though it was still posted online. Additionally I'm gluten free & asked them to modify my dish & my food was totally bland. I expect a lot more from a restaurant in this price range.

We dined at Mario's over winter break while visiting my in laws with our kids. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was very nice. While it looks like a place you wouldn't want to bring kids to, surprisingly it is very kid friendly. We had the chicken Parmesan, chicken Marsala, veal Parmesan, and the fish of the day. All of it was excellent. The fresh hot garlic rolls they give you to start the meal are amazing!!! The only complaint I have is our server was a disaster. We could tell from the start he was a little off. It seemed like he was on some sort of drugs as he spoke a mile a minute, kept abruptly leaving our table to put something away, check on a menu item he was trying to describe, kept forgetting what he was saying, or do something else. He also kept trying to push the foods he liked on us and didn't seem to understand when we said "Thank you but I would like xxx". He also miss timed our meal and it took longer than it probably should have to get our food and for the length of the entire meal. In fact if the length of time for our meal was "Normal" I would have given them 5 stars. Despite that I would still highly recommend Mario's if you are in the Boca Raton - Delray Beach area

Dinner with a girlfriend Friday nite was pleasant. Don't love their policy of no reservations past 6:15 on Fridays but didn't have to wait long. This would be a 4 star rating rather than a 3 if it weren't for the following... Food was quite good. We shared the arugula salad and shared the Lobster Ravioli special which was tasty and rich and the halibut special. I was so full after my ravioli and decided to take the fish home (Never even tasted it). We asked our server to wrap our leftover salad and halibut. Server was pleasant but not super attentive to his duties as our waiter. Our water glasses were not refilled (at all) and he never brought our boxed leftovers. We were so busy catching up that we didn't realize they were missing until we were leaving and opted to not bother asking for them as we figured they were probably in the trash anyway. It's really too bad because I was looking forward to having the fish for lunch the next day. Overall, will go back again but will be more aware.

I will never eat here again or bring any of my clients! Steer clear if you do not want to be insulted and embarrassed. We spend thousands of dollars a month at this place in food, and thats just for two people. We never complained when the portions got smaller and the prices went up, the air conditioning wasn't working, they removed my favorite ciopinno off the menu, or how inconsistent service was sometimes. The previous post about the bread being good, sure it is, but you have to ask for it. This last incident put the nail in the coffin. Started at the bar waiting for the rest if our large party to join us. When we moved to our table we wanted to continue cocktails, but the waiter said they don't offer the same specials at the bar as they do in the dining room. Then he went further to say that if we had gotten there earlier we could have all stayed at the bar. He wanted to put a party of 12 at the bar instead of serving us! He then went on to lecture us about how they just had a meeting with management about people bringing their drinks over from the bar. We were supposed to finish all our alcoholic beverages and bottles of wine before leaving the bar to sit in the dining room (that is four steps away). The place was empty at 5 pm. We walked out and went next door to J Alexander's. They have the same prices on alcohol without having to call it "happy hour" at Mario's. The only redeeming quality was Mario's grilled calamari, it is the best in town, but I found a local Greek restaurant that makes the same thing. When I contacted management they never responded to any of my phone calls. This restaurant does not have a clue about hospitality. There are plenty of delightful restaurants in Boca for people to dine.
(1)Maria C.
what a great surprise. This is super trendy, hip and the food was amazing. The staff didn't know what else to do to make us feel more welcome and comfortable. I had a simple entree: Grilled chicken breast with steamed broccoli. Never had a chicken so well prepared in my life. Absolutely delicious. Can't wait to come back. Maria
(4)Donna B.
We had a fantastic meal! Service was great! The whole evening was a very pleasant experience!

I'm enamored with this restaurant. I've been twice now, and each time, I've been very happy with the food, the atmosphere, and the service. Additionally, if you're there before 4:00 p.m. each day, they do half price on appetizers and drinks (including wine). The only issue is that it doesn't include entrees, and you have to sit at the bar or hi-top tables beside the bar. Nevertheless, I'll probably be there every weekend, now that I know about half price apps/drinks. Food In terms of entrees, I've had the penne alla vodka, which was superb. It's better than my friend, Belinda's, who I thought made the best penne vodka in the world. I've also enjoyed the following appetizers: Assorted Olives, Prusciutto & Parm with olives, and the Calamari Fra Diavolo. They also serve a nice bread with oil and vinegar to start. Additionally, I've also had espresso, which they serve with a shot glass of water to cleanse the palate. I've had their gelato, as well as profiteroles. Both were quite tasty. Wine By the glass, they have an adequate wine list. It's nothing to write home about, but adequate. I haven't ordered a bottle there yet. Nevertheless, if you do the half-price happy hour thing, you can basically get the best they have to offer at reasonable prices. For instance, I recently had a very nice glass of the Hess Allomi 2009 Cab (not the regular cab), which is normally $14 there, but with the half price thing, it was $7. I'll take two please. ;) Atmosphere Gorgeous place, very upscale. They have indoor dining and a bar, as well as outdoor tables and another bar. The only thing I don't like, is they don't have 'love tables', like they do at Maggiano's. Not trying to say that Maggiano's is in Marios' league, because it definitely isn't; however, Maggiano's does have love tables. I like love tables, because you can sit close to your chic. Sue me, I'm a romantic. Service I've seen a few complaints on the time it takes to be served your dish. On this, unfortunately, I'll have to concur. If you come to Marios you will wait on your dish, but... hey great food is sometimes worth an extra 15 minutes. The waitstaff and bartenders are cordial and knowledgeable. No real serious complaints here. Look, it ain't McDonalds, so don't go there in search of speed. Price I've already told you about the half price happy hour for appetizers and drinks (includes wine). Aside from that, it's a nice upscale restaurant, you're gonna pay for it. If you come for dinner, or you choose to forego the happy hour, it can certainly get pricey, especially if you do wine, appetizers, coffee, and desert. You know the drill, it's as expensive as you want to make it. Verdict This has, basically, become my favorite restaurant in Boca. I recommend this place highly, but stay away. It's getting too crowded there now, because, apparently I'm not the only one who thinks so. I say 'stay away' jokingly. You should definitely try this place. I'm just being selfish, because I want to get my table faster. ;)
(5)Chris D.
Best Happy Hour in the county. 1130-600 and lots of food choices which are all good. Great bartenders also. We always eat at the outdoor bar and even the regular menu prices are very reasonable. Like most places the food and service is better from May to November but still pretty good in season.

Possibly some of the best Italian food I have ever eaten - and this is coming from somebody who lived for 15 years in the North End (Italian section) of Boston. Everything we ordered was out of this world. And James, our server, was the perfect blend of friendliness, attentiveness, and professionalism. Really high quality and gourmet Italian food in a nice setting with excellent service. Sitting at the long tables for Happy Hour was like one, big, happy family as we chatted and shared suggestions with our neighbors - and was made even better because all appetizers are half price. Everything, and I mean everything, was fantastic. And after sampling this, that, and the other thing - from grilled calamari, meatballs, grilled artichokes, eggplant pancakes, fried zucchini, and the fabulous house garlic rolls - we topped it off with a ginormous slice of chocolate caked layered with mousse and ganache. OMG: We nearly had to be rolled out of Marios........

Lots to choose - if you get an appetizer forget about the rest - it is big or share otherwise you will not eat your food.. Dessert also delicious

I love this restaurant, the happy hour is amazing, half off drinks AND appetizers. If you are looking for a great place to eat lunch, look no further. just pull up a chair at their outdoor bar chow down on some eggplant pancakes and calamari, and throw back some drinks. Also, their sandwiches are awesome, albeit a little pricey. The food is excellent at this place, but its defining characteristic is the restaurant itself. The restaurant is a bold and daring statement that embodies class, but while also being hip and cool. The service is above average, but nothing mindblowing(except maybe the valet service, they are, very good), the food is great, and the atmosphere is top notch...i would highly reccommend marios

I really like this place. The food is very good. The bread is fresh out of the oven & a great start. I had the eggplant appetizer for main course & was more than enough for a meal. Everyone (7) enjoyed their meals from Sunday gravy to fettuccine. Everyone Tom home leftovers. Delish!!!

Not bad. Everything could have used a touch more salt. I also do not like how they break their pasta before cooking it. It left the noodles too short, making it impossible to wrap the pasta around a fork. This makes for messy eating. The bread rolls that every one raves about were a it of a disappointment, the garlic butter contained under-cooked, blended to a paste, seasoning. It gave the rolls a grass-like flavor. The food was not bad, but it was not worth the price they charged for it.

Living in a big city and coming to visit Florida, I did not expect to have a 5-star Italian meal that exceeded those I've had in the famous North End in Boston. All the appetizers and entrees ordered were more than satisfying. The menu and help were impressive and the portions enough to feed a family days!

Tom Glazer sang "On Top Of Spaghetti", a song about the loss of a meatball that occurred when someone sneezed. If it was as good as the meatball found on the chicken meatball slider sandwich here, I can see why. I ordered the dish for lunch because I desperately needed something different and hadn't had a good meatball sandwich, or good meatball period, for some time. In fact, the last one I had elsewhere looked pretty but had a flavor unfit for a Turkish prison. A trio of meatball sliders sandwiches are served on a long narrow plate, with each measuring about two inches in every direction. The bread on which the meatballs reside was warm to the touch, the meatball, one per slider, was steaming hot and dazzled in a fresh, tasty tomato sauce and adorned with a subtle shake or two of freshly grated parmigiano cheese . Fries accompany the sliders, which weren't bad but weren't eaten. Had the sandwiches not been as good as they were, I may have eaten the fries. I told myself I would only eat two of the three and resisted eating the remaining meatball slider as long as possible until its gentle whispers to join its two buddies could no longer be ignored. It was not as hot as it the others were, but it was every bit as juicy, tasty and was just as pretty. They also serve garlic bread which was about as good as any I've had. Fresh, hot, glazed with butter, parmigiano cheese with a hint of salt, crisp exterior, soft and moist interior. There are plenty of selections on the menu, valet parking, inside and outdoor seating. This place is open for lunch and dinner, is suited for date night, family or business dining, is reasonably sized, priced, has a full bar and a nice interior look and feel. We've dined here twice and I would have to say only the wait staff is lacking. This review is only for the takeout experience, I have not actually eaten there. I have done takeout from here a couple of times and the food is great. I also love how the parking and pickup is very easy. There are couple of spots reserved just for pickup in the back, which makes it very easy to get in and out. The staff is friendly and the food is always ready on time. The octopus and calamari is fantastic! Also try to the veal ossobucco ravioli, phenom! The restaurant is always packed, so you know something must be right. Will definitely be back.

What a wonderful place to meet my family from Del Ray and Wellington since I live in Fort Lauderdale. The food is always exceptional . The ambiance, the service and the food are top notch everytime! They offer an extensive menu for food, drinks and desserts. The daily specials are always a wonderful treat. The veal dishes and shrimp dishes are always delicious. The last time we were there we had a piece of carrot cake that was large enough for 6 people. It's a fun place to eat with a great management and service to staff to make sure your experience is always favorable! Can't wait to go back again!!

Had lunch here yesterday, and was severely disappointed. The restaurant was attractive and we just missed the lunch crowd, so it was quiet and I had great expectations ! There were 3 of us and two had the short rib sliders, which were somewhat flavorless. I ordered the veal milanaise sandwich and no amount of salt, pepper or balsamic was going to give it flavor. Garlic rolls were very good. Might give it a second try, since it gets pretty good reviews, but not on my " must do" list.

Mario's is a great happy hour location and that's why it's always packed at that time. The portions are huge for a happy hour price. The food is better than average but its nothing to remember or make you want more. The service is spotty and the mixed drinks are terrible. There is barely any alcohol in them. I would not pay regular price to eat here

Horrible manager. Tonight was an extremely chilly evening. The only table that was offered was outside. We were told that there were heaters outside. We were a table of six. The heater was on one side. Nobody else was outside. We asked for another heater, the manager Aria, came out and said no. She offered no explanation. She was nasty and obstinate. She refused to make us comfortable and welcome. Stay away until they care about their customers Update. Since I wrote this review it was posted and then taken down. It's interesting how certain reviews get censored.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! It looks beautifully modern yet casual and inviting, making it perfect for any occasion. My friends and I loved Mario's so much that we went twice in the first 2 weeks of its opening! None of has had ever been to the old Mario's, but we had heard about the glorious garlic rolls, and that's exactly what we got. They glistened all the way from the oven to the table! My friends and I shared the wonderful eggplant pancakes, house salad (LOVE gorgonzola), caesar salad (mmmm), penne alla vodka, spaghetti and tomato sauce (simple and fresh), a chicken parmesan cutlet, broccoli rabe and french fries (surprisingly awesome!). The service was a little iffy during the first week but they improved by the 2nd week. This happens with any and all restaurants, so I'm excited to go back for more garlic rolls and improved service! Oh and by the way, the iced cappuccinos are to-die-for!

There was a 45 min wait when we got here and ended up waiting 47 minutes. We were happily greeted by some hot garlic rolls. The server was very attentive and our food was as great as it was at the original location. Our table had orders of the Sunday Gravy, Boneless Chicken Scarpiello and Baked Ziti Bolognese, all of which we would recommend and order again.

We will go back because we loved the food. For the most part portions are rather large especially on the pasta dishes. Let's get the BAD out of the way because it had nothing to do with food or our waiter, Jaimie, who was very attentive. BAD : my husband ordered a drink between the appetizer course and the main course. Halfway through his main course, the drink still had not arrived. Jaime, our waiter explained that the bar was just too busy to make it - what?!! Who ever heard of a restaurant being too busy to make a $12 martini? Drink canceled. I ordered a crème brulee and the runner brought it out without silverware. When I asked for silverware, I was given a dirty spoon that was bigger than a soup spoon. Replaced. GOOD: We were seated immediately for our reservation. The food was wonderful. I had a caprese salad, not the best I have ever had but pretty tasty and my husband had the chicken vegetable soup which he loved. I had veal piccata with artichokes. The veal itself was probably the best quality veal I have ever had. Succulent without being pounded to death. I always judge Italian restaurants on their veal dishes kind of like I always judge ice creams by the taste of their vanilla. The veal was served with a side of penne (my choice). Pasta sauce was not acidic but on the sweet side the way we like it. My husband had a wonderful swordfish served with some pretty tasty spinach. Will go back.

Had Mario's (Owned by the former Bova" restauranteurs) spent as much time concentrating on their food and service, it would have been a success. Unfortunately, it left us with a bad taste.. Four of us went to check it out, and were deeply disappointed in the food, which lacked quality, and the service, which lacked enthusiasm. Too bad. It had potential.

I don't usually expect much of larger Restos but I was pleasantly surprised by Mario's Osteria. On recommendation of other yelpers, I decided to give it a try for lunch today. I was seated outside and greeted in a timely fashion by our waiter. We decided on ordering a couple of appetizers while looking through the wine list. We started with the calamari diabolo and the beef carpaccio. Both were delicious. The Carpaccio was one of the best I've had. The calamari was very tasty and a bit spicy ( less spicy than the repeated warnings we received from the waiter :) After ordering a couple of glasses of a recommend wine, we ordered the baked gnocchi Vodka and the rigatoni with Sunday meat sauce ( which had delicious slow cooked, fall of the bone pork, sausage and meatball in a yummy red meat sauce). The gnocchi dish was baked with cheese and crumbled sweet sausage. Both of these are winners. Everything was A1. Service was attentive and friendly. Highly recommended. Now off for a nap :)

This place is really good. You can't beat the portions & price. We shared the veal park on the bone., & gnocchi baked w vodka sauce. The garlic rolls they give u are insane. Great spot for kids

I've spent a lot of time over the years in Boca and I've been to a few different iterations of Mario's and today we decided to try the latest. We ate early because we were eating with an infant and so we were seated fairly quickly that was pretty much the only thing that happened quickly the rest of the night. The waiter took forever to come over. Drinks took forever and all we had were ice teas and water. Other tables around that had a different waiter got bread, drinks, salad way before us. We asked for more bread and it took FOREVER to get it. After we were seated for more than an hour we finally got our meals. Of course, one of the meals was incomplete (no pasta) and nothing was ever done about it. Nearly two hours later we were finally out of there. On the way out, I saw the manager talking to some people waiting to be seated so I pulled him aside and complained about the service. How did I know he was the manager? Because while we were suffering through our meal I saw him go to pretty much every table in the house except for ours to make sure everything was OK. Anyway, he lightly apologized, said he thought everything was going well at our table, and told us to ask for him next time we come in. Not really the response I was hoping for. Well the food was pretty good but the service was so awful I'll probably never go back. There are PLENTY of good italian restaurants in the area and all of them have far superior service to what I experienced here.

Just returned from Mario's and thought it was good but not great. I had the chicken with peppers, artichoke hearts, etc on pasta. The chicken was plentiful but somewhat tough and needed more flavoring. Service was great. Next time I go, I'll stick to salad - can't go wrong on that one.

Great place, especially like the happy hour at the bar, 1/2 price drinks & appetizers, best deal in town!
(5)Simm G.
Great meal this time ! Our server was very nice & extremely accommodating - They made the best grilled eggplant served with arugula & basil - not like last time w/ Mark - who was NOT a nice waiter, to deal with !
(5)Sharon N.
The first bites of the complimentary garlic rolls had me hooked on this place. The pizzas, pastas and salads are delicious. They use the freshest ingredients. My favorite is the Gorgonzola salad - soooo yummy! No real kids menu, but my daughter downed the pizza! Worth every penny! Great decor, delicious food and fantastic service!

Growing up in Boca, I used to eat at Mario's all the time. So, I was excited to try the new version while home on my recent Christmas break. As the restaurant has only been open for a few days, I knew there would be problems. I think our biggest issue was the waiter. He was incredibly nice (with quite an interesting accent), but seemed quite overwhelmed with his job and untrained on the menu. After sitting down, we placed our orders. He asked if we wanted garlic bread. We said sure, as we all remembered the delicious garlic-y rolls that they used to drop on your table at the old place. The rolls are the same. However, they charge you now for them! That's some craziness. As many (probably most) of your customers are dining there because they have fond memories of old Mario's, maybe it isn't the wisest idea to nickel and dime them on items that used to be complimentary. That just seems like a gateway to alienating people. Then when we went to place our order, two people decided to order a pizza. He let us know the pizza might come out a bit early, as it comes from a different kitchen. Fine. However, the pizza arrived TWENTY MINUTES before the actual food. They were done with it well before our entrees arrived. The waiter said the reason was due to a policy not to use food warmers. That makes sense, I guess. However, seems like if that's the case, there should be a system in place so that you time the pizza order so that there isn't a twenty minute window. For that matter, it shouldn't take thirty minutes for the entrees to arrive. Nevertheless, it was now time for the food to come. The waiter starts insisting to put empty plates in front of everyone, with the entrees coming to the center of the table. Apparently the new Mario's is a "sharing" concept. This would have been helpful to know before we ordered. Unfortunately, everybody ordered individual entrees (except the aforementioned pizza people), so this just led to a lot of clutter. When we suggested not using the empty plates, and just placing our entrees in front of us, he was really thrown for a loop. Not a big deal at all, but they should really just let you know there's a new concept, so as to again, not throw off the people who are coming there with their fond memories (and expectations) of Mario's past incarnations. I do give the place three stars because the food was excellent. The service though, definitely needs work.

Please judge for yourself. Granted, this is opening night so there are going to be glitches, which SHOULD BE A COMPETENT managements time to shine. The staff was eager to please and very friendly. We sat down to a gorgeous Italian menu. My husband is Italian and he was rather pleased with the wide variety of choices. I ordered a cosmo martini. I took one sip and it tasted like pure sugar. I politely sent it back asking for less "mix". It came back AGAIN, in a small glass, not filled to the top tasting NOT like a martini, but sugar water. I did not send it back AGAIN, but drank what I could and moved onto the wine menu. No problem, they have a great variety of wines by the glass. We all ordered and were please with our selections. It took quite some time, but again, this was opening night. I asked the server if bread was gratis and she said yes and would bring some to the table. My girlfriend and I received our food, but my husbands order was incorrect. The manager came out to apologize to fix it and another server came to the table telling us how we were the ones who "got the glitch out of the system" as the computer was not placing this particular dish correctly as an order. My friend and I FINISHED eating and 10 minutes after we completed our meals, my husbands food finally came to the table. We received the bill. We were CHARGED for the bread $8 that we HAD BENN INFORMED PREVIOUSLY was gratis and NOTHING was taken off the bill in which my husband had to wait a half an hour to receive and ate alone. We politely told the server that she needs to speak with the manager to remove his food that was late due to computer malfunctions. She returned to the table saying that the manager said he would NOT do that but would remove the bread charges. We said the bread was free? Then said we would rather pay for the entire meal and not return. She made a second trip back saying he still would not remove any charges. We FINALLY HAD TO DEMAND TO SPEAK TO HIM. There was another manager who would not even approach the table. He came to the table and still would do nothing for us. MORAL: IN THIS ECONOMY WE ALL WORK VERY HARD FOR OUR MONEY. SPEND IT WHERE PEOPLE CARE ABOUT YOU AND VALUE YOU! AFTERALL, YOUR EXPERIENCE WHILE DINING IS WHY WE DINE OUT! NON OF US ARE THERE TO BE PAID AS BUSINESS CONSULTANTS ON HOW TO RUN A BUSINESS. THERE ARE WAY TO MANY PLACES TO EAT IN SO FLA THAT CARE!!!!!!

We had a late lunch at the new Mario's outside on the front patio. We had been anxiously awaiting the opening because it used to be one of our favorite places. We had excellent eggplant pancakes that were just as good as we remembered them A large Gorgonzola salad was mediocre . The true delight was the excellent ricotta cheese cake, a real winner. And with the cold Chardonnay, it was great to be back. Good garlic rolls too.

Man , this is like a combo of the old Mario's and the old Mario's Tuscan Grill. Had a fantastic lunch there. Can't wait to go back. Menu is a bit too massive for me though. Wish they brought back the rigatoni chicken with shiitake mushrooms and wine sauce. The calamari fra diavolo and hot peppers stole the show.
(4)Calvin H.
First thing to mention here is garlic rolls. They alone are reason to come back again and again. This place is awesome. Nice new decor, friendly wait staff. I tried 3 of their salads, they were all great. Outdoor seating is quite pleasant as well. Looking to fill your quota of Italian food? Try this place out, and go home happy (and stuffed).
(5)Dave R.
We've been back twice since our first review and everything is perfect again! The service is fantastic as there are more than enough servers to go around. The food is cooked perfectly and the place is great. We'll probably be there at least once every two weeks. BEST ITALIAN IN BOCA.
(5)Seth S.
The actual room and atmosphere was very nice. Waiting and hour and half because the host forgot about our party wasn't so much fun. The rolls were great, but the main dish was overcooked, and the manager/owner was very condescending. I really wanted to like the place , but won't waste money again on an okay meal....there are too many good restaurants in the area...

My family and I been a fan of Mario's since the 90's... When we saw they reopened on Glades we were so excited to see one of our favorite places back in business. We especially couldn't wait to get our all time favorites, eggplant pancakes and the Zuppa di Pesce. WOW!!!! What a disappointment!!! Absolutely horrible!!! The cheese on top of the eggplant pancakes had a weird taste & bad smell to it. I think it was spoiled. Our house salad was tasteless. The dressing tasted like water. We had to get plain vinegar to add to it just to make it edible. They no longer have Zuppa di Pesce on the menu but they have a similar dish called Cioppino. This was equally inedible. It was so greasy! Also our spaghetti with olive oil & garlic had burnt garlic in it. I would never recommend eating here to anyone in the area. There are so many delicious & consistently outstanding restaurant's here in South Florida. I wouldn't even give Mario's a second try if they gave me the food for free. I recommend you do not waste your hard earned money on this slop they call authentic Italian food. What an embarrassment to my culture!
(1)Michelle K.
This place could have been a hit but ended up being a major miss. First of all, the menu is extremely over priced for what you're getting. The service was very slow, but attentive. The menu is trying very hard to be Italian, but it seems they try to hard. The calamari is a classic Italian appetizer, but was hard as rubber here. My chicken was hard as a rock and too dry too swallow. The decor is beautiful and ambiance is romantic, but if you expect to eat authentic Italian fare, you will surely be disappointed.
(2)John N.
I am so glad to see that Mario's finally reopened in a gorgeous new spot. The food is as great as I remember. The prices are reasonable. The service is very good, but the kitchen is a bit slow. I will definitely be back for another great meal soon!
